Empowered Future: A Teacher's Guide to Activity-Based Solar Energy Learning

This enhanced educative e-book (EEEB) is for middle-grade teachers to empower their grades six to nine students with solar energy. The EEEB is optimized for exploring on the Kindle Fire or Kindle for PC/Mac and contains embedded videos to enhance the content. The EEEB explains the importance of solar energy (Chapter 1) and related science and technology concepts (Chapter 2). It describes active learning methods (Chapter 3) and then presents, with multimedia and activity-sheet supports, three activity-based instructional units for solar power. Instructional Unit 1 (Chapter 4) helps students understand how solar energy can be used for heating. Instructional Unit 2 (Chapter 5) focuses on photovoltaics. Instructional Unit 3 (Chapter 6) looks at energy use locally, and in other regions, and leads students to consider the impact greater solar energy use can have. An important goal is for students to be able to explain solar as one energy solution to address social, environmental, and economic challenges. Downloadable Microsoft Word Activity Sheets are included. Arabic versions of most videos are also available.
